2010 - 2011 OMHA Coaching Certification Requirements
Coaches – see the OMHA table below for certification requirements. Please note that the NMHA requires assistant coaches in Rep & House League to have the minimum certification requirement for their age group.
Parent volunteers who want to help out on-ice for practices require a Vulnerable Sector Screening to be submitted to the NMHA as do all coaches and trainers. All teams must submit a completed on-ice volunteer list to the hockey office.
In House League, to help out occasionally behind the bench (i.e. “work a door”), parent volunteers also need to attend and complete a Prevention Services (Speak Out) clinic.
All teams require a trainer – a game cannot commence without at least one trainer present. Some teams have a primary and a backup trainer. To become a trainer, you must attend a Hockey Trainer Certification Program (HTCP) clinic and a Prevention Services clinic.
